Legend of Colt 45

Colt 45 is a brand of beer (or malt liquor) brewed by Pabst Brewing Company and G. Heileman Brewing Company in Texas.

While Colt 45 has been criticized for its very strong hop taste, it is embraced for its high alcohol content, which categorizes it as a malt liquor. It is also popular for its cheap price.

The Colt 45 Name comes from where it once came in 45 ounce bottles. The Label has changed very little since its creation in 1963. Also Colt 45 has always been careful to never show a gun in their advertising, so they would not be sued by Colt Firearms, maker of the famed Colt .45 pistol.

During the early 1980s, the company ran an advertising campaign featuring actor Billy Dee Williams. In the commercials, he popularized the slogans "Nothing is Smoother Than an Ice Cold Bottle of Colt 45" and "It Works Everytime."
